St. Thomas High School is located in the Washington Avenue Coalition/Memorial Park neighborhood. It is a private, parochial, college preparatory school for young men in grades 9-12. The school was opened by Basilian priests in 1900 and is the oldest college preparatory school for young men in Texas. The school’s “primary objective is to provide young men with the highest level of education while instilling the core virtues of the Catholic faith, thereby shaping the well-rounded leaders of tomorrow.” St. Thomas offers an extensive athletics program with traditional sports as well as lacrosse and rugby.
