The Rusk School

The Rusk School is located in the Second Ward. The public school currently serves students in 3rd through 8th grade, is part of Houston ISD, and was founded in 1902 and rebuilt in 1959. The Rusk School is transitioning to becoming a middle school only (6th- 8th grade), and is phasing out elementary grades. Rusk serves neighborhood residents and is a magnet school for students in the district who are interested in studying health sciences, engineering, and technology. The magnet program is known as the “Baylor Academy of Medicine Biotech Academy at Rusk.”
