Pershing is located in the Braeswood neighborhood. It is a neighborhood zoned, middle school, a magnet school for the fine arts, and part of Houston ISD. Pershing’s fine arts magnet offers students the opportunity to specialize in art, dance, orchestra, band, jazz, guitar, choir, theatre arts, and gymnastics. The school was originally in West University Village when it opened in 1928, moving to its current location on Braes in 1949. The new school building opened in 2007.
