Love Elementary School is located in the Greater Heights. It is a public, zoned, elementary school in Houston ISD. The school opened in 1914 and is named after William G. Love (d.1926), former Mayor of the Houston Heights. In 2015-16 the school began offering a dual language program to Kindergarten students, adding one grade per year. It is an additive bilingual program for native Spanish-speaking students and foreign language immersion program for English-speaking students. In two-way classrooms, a combination of native Spanish speakers and native English speakers are taught together in an effort to develop full bilingualism and bi-literacy for both groups of students by the 3rd grade. Love is implementing a STEAM curriculum, and its facilities include a learning pond and student gardens.
