Kashmere Gardens Elementary School is located in the neighborhood it is named for, Kashmere Gardens. It is a fine arts magnet school as well as a zoned school for neighborhood residents. The school was built in 1949. Its dual language program teaches students in English and Spanish in grades Kindergarten through 3rd. In two-way classrooms, a combination of native Spanish speakers and native English speakers are taught together in an effort to develop full bilingualism and bi-literacy for both groups of students by the 3rd grade. It offers all students arts instruction in music, the visual arts, dance, drama and creative writing through the Arts Access Initiative. The school is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School.
