The Houston Academy for International Studies (HAIS) is a Houston ISD high school located in Midtown. It opened in August 2006 and is affiliated with the Asia Society, Houston A+ Challenge, and Houston Community College. This specialized high school is located in a building that was formerly Jones Elementary. HAIS is an early college, public, all magnet school, only accepting students by application. Students focus on a college-preparatory curriculum, international travel, internships, foreign languages, and obtain an Associate’s Degree from Houston Community College while in high school. Additionally, the school is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School.
