Davila Elementary, located in Pecan Park, is a public school affiliated with Houston ISD. Davila serves neighborhood zoned students. Davila is also a dual language English/Spanish school. It is an additive bilingual program for native Spanish-speaking students and foreign language immersion program for English-speaking students. In two-way classrooms, a combination of native Spanish speakers and native English speakers are taught together in an effort to develop full bilingualism and bi-literacy for both groups of students by the 3rd grade. The school was built in 1990 and is named after neighborhood leader, Jaime Davila, the first student from the East End to receive a full scholarship to Harvard University.
