Cullen Middle School is in the Greater OST/South Union neighborhood. Founded in 1954, it is a neighborhood, zoned school affiliated with HISD. Cullen’s curriculum is centered around the school motto, “smarter and stronger.” The school offers band and athletics. The school is named after Ezekiel Wimberly Cullen, who introduced the plan on which Texas’ free system of schools was founded when he served in the Texas House of Representatives.
