Carnegie Vanguard High School is located in the Fourth Ward and is part of Houston ISD. It is a public, magnet-only, specialized senior high school for students who are identified as gifted and talented by the district (in elementary or middle school), or by scores on the Iowa and CogAT exams. Carnegie is consistently ranked as a top school in the region, state and nation, with the highest SAT scores in the school district and 100% of graduates continuing education post high school. Carnegie’s magnet program was part of Jones High School prior to opening its own campus in 2002. The school is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School.
