The Astrodome Area Super Neighborhood is named for the iconic Astrodome, the world's first multi-purpose, domed sports stadium that debuted in 1965, and is dubbed the “Eight Wonder of the World”. The area lies south of Old Spanish Trail and South Braeswood Boulevard, extending to Loop 610 further to the south. It includes commercial and single-and multi-family residential developments, and is adjacent to the Houston Medical Center, which has a wide variety of high-rise condos and apartment buildings. Hermann Park, one of Houston's most-visited public parks, is only a few minutes away. The NRG Stadium and NRG Park located in the heart of the neighborhood are home to the Houston Texans, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and host sporting events, exhibits, concerts, providing residents and visitors something to do year-round. The area is well-served by the Metro Light Rail and Bus and major highways that provide easy access to other parts of the city.
